The ecoRoute Workshop for Maritime Tourism Operators

On February 28th, 2025, maritime professionals and stakeholders are invited to participate in the ecoRoute Workshop for Maritime Tourism Operators. This event, organized by the Centre for the Study of Modern and Contemporary Archaeology (CEAM) and hosted at the Centre for Atlantic History Studies – Alberto Vieira (CEHA) in Funchal, Madeira, aims to forge new synergies and policies for managing the region’s cultural and environmental heritage.

Scheduled from 2pm to 5pm at Rua das Mercês n.º 8, the workshop will focus on integrated management strategies necessary for the preservation and enhancement of underwater heritage and the environmental stewardship of maritime areas around the Madeira Archipelago.

The workshop is crucial for professionals directly engaged in maritime activities within the archipelago and recognizes the valuable contributions of those from tourism, environmental science, culture, and related sectors. It offers a unique platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities in managing Madeira’s underwater treasures, both cultural and natural.

Attendees will explore a variety of topics, including current practices and potential innovations in the conservation of maritime heritage. The event will culminate in an open debate, allowing every participant to share insights and concerns, thereby enriching the discourse and fostering a community dedicated to sustainable maritime practices.

This gathering is more than just a workshop, our aim is to foster a constructive dialogue that will lead to the adoption of good practices for the protection and enhancement of this heritage, ensuring its preservation for future generations.
