On 16 May 2025, the Association Archéologie Petites Antilles, within the framework of the ecoRoute and BIMer projects, organised an educational field activity in collaboration with the OCÉANA Plongée club and the Campus des Métiers de la Mer.
The initiative brought together high school students from Acajou and Schoelcher, as well as undergraduate students from the History Department of the Université des Antilles, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the underwater cultural heritage of the region.
Participants visited the wreck of the “Amélie”, where they were introduced to the significance of submerged archaeological sites and the importance of preserving underwater heritage. Through this hands-on experience, students gained valuable insights into marine archaeology and the cultural value of underwater environments.
This activity highlights ecoRoute’s commitment to education, awareness-raising, and community engagement, fostering a deeper connection between younger generations and the protection of underwater cultural heritage.
